Edmond Scientific Company “Spotlight on the Executive”:

New Hire - Tony Mallia, Practice Director

Fairfax, Virginia – February 25, 2008 – Edmond Scientific Company (ESC) is pleased to announce the addition to our team of Tony Mallia as Practice Director.  Mr. Mallia will manage the methodology for enterprise engineering, bringing to bear his experience of enterprise integration in successful engagements with large organizations in the federal and financial services sectors.  The core goal of this methodology is to drive efficient and effective large systems development. He is also currently a participant on the Federal Consortium, which represents 26 Federal agencies to the NHIN (Nationwide Health Information Network) Trial Implementation Cooperative.  His role is to represent the federal consortium in technical, security and privacy aspects of the Federal NHIN involvement.

During the last 8 years, Mr. Mallia developed the integration architecture of the Federal Health Information Exchange (FHIE/BHIE) between the Department of Veterans Affairs and Department of Defense, Military Health.  The project exchanges medical records on over 8 million patients with over 100,000 queries a month.  He is also a co-author of the paper “Architecture of the FHIE by Greg W. Donham and Tony Mallia - Journal of AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association) July- Aug 2006”.

Mr. Mallia has developed integration architecture for over 2 dozen commercial and federal projects covering a span of 30 years.  Mr. Mallia has advised and supported IT organizations in the use of a rigorous engineering process to design service-oriented integration frameworks. Throughout the course of his career, Mr. Mallia has been involved in many interoperability projects, including the design and construction of plug compatible data communication devices, satellite and wireless digital data broadcast systems, enterprise integration and electronic health information exchange.  This experience crossed over into the commercial sector to encompass major integration projects for a handful of Fortune 100 companies.

Tony Mallia graduated with honors from Imperial College, University of London, with a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Physics and as an Associate of the Royal College of Science.
