button Computer Performance Analyst/Modeler, Fairfax, VA

Description
Immediate opening for experienced computer network performance scientist/modeler/analyst. Must have hands-on experience using software monitors to collect and analyze packet-level data to develop analytic models, algebraic models of queuing networks and Markov chains, workload characterizations for lab testing/simulation of software mods, capacity planning, and performance benchmarking of client-server architectures and applications. Must be able to lead collection and statistical analysis of enterprise-wide data such as packet frequency and type, queue depths, service requests, and other workload elements for application and network optimization. Modeling experience should include Petri nets, PEPSY, BEST/1 or similar. Must be familiar with experimental design for factors such as resource and network load variations, and regression modeling. Good presentation and writing skills is a must.

Requirements
Job requires a self-assured, professional demeanor, knowledgeable technical expert who does not require close administrative or technical supervision. Must be able to troubleshoot technical hurdles of data collection on real world enterprise WANs. Some domestic travel may be required. Applicants should be prepared to demonstrate knowledge or show past work products.

button Technical Editor, Fairfax, VA F/T or P/T positions available.
Responsible for reviewing, proofreading, and editing test/procedure manuals, operation/maintenance manuals, parts list manuals and related technical publications.
1. Compare online screen copy of SGML documents against the hardcopy manual text, graphics, and tabular data for content and structure.
2. Proofread, edit, and correct OCR scanning errors.
3. Checks accuracy of chart/table data including part numbers.
4. Modify/edit SGML tagging to ensure document structure conforms to approved standards.
5. Apply format and attribute standards to tables and graphics.
6. Document errors and maintain QA records
7. Provide input to improve/update Quality Assurance checklists and/or assist in developing new procedures to streamline the production process.
High school diploma or equivalent required. College coursework or B.S. preferred. Knowledge/familiarity of desktop publishing tools including FrameMaker+SGML. Experienced computer skills and experience/proficiency with Windows Explorer and MS Word are required. Previous editing/proofreading experience preferred. Previous experience editing SGML documents highly desirable.
